Corpse Bride Wig

Halloween is the time for daring and drama so, to all you queens, let’s have some fun designing your unique costume, Corpse Bride Wig and all!

The best place to start is your very own closet. Once you have exhausted your findings, head out to the resale shops for the rest. For final touches, the Halloween shops may have that piece de resistance.

Gathering make-up, powders, paints, polishes, glitters and remnants with hues of grays, blues and blacks are key for this costume!

WIG: If you have a head full of hair then use what you’ve got girl! Otherwise, most beauty supply houses have long flowing bluish corpse bride wigs or extensions that are inexpensive. Teasing your hair a bit giving it some lift and then letting the rest flow is perfect. Powder your hair now, so as to make it appear “corpsy”. After you have completed your dressing, you can sprinkle some silver glitter and spiders, finishing off with some blue hair paint.

VEIL: Gather some of your old aunt’s silk flowers, or was that your aunt’s old silk flowers, yeah, and twine them into a crown to fit your head. Then spray paint them greys and blues, flowers black and you can even sprinkle the wet paint with glitter. The corpse bride veil can be made out of old curtain sheers. Sew it to your crown or else hot glue it. Tatter the edges of the veil cutting the edge into ragged points.

GOWN: Grab yourself an old wedding gown. Cut a peak in the front of the dress to your knee. Using the same technique for the veil’s edges, do the same for the gown. To expose the rib cage, just cut a small area of the outer layer of the bodice and shade some ribs onto the second layer.

COLORING TECHNIQUE: Take your paints and shade the edges with gradual coloring to show death’s wear. This can be done by putting a dab of paint on to a paper plate, then loading your dry brush with paint, then removing the paint by rubbing the excess off onto another plate. Take your brush to the garment along the edges, the seams, neckline etc. Ripping a hole here and there is a nice added touch!

CREATIVE ELEMENTS: Take a marker and draw swirls along any edges you like, then glue and sprinkle with glitter, sequins, rhinestones etc.

MAKE-UP: Remember death becomes you with dark circles, gaunt bluish shading, black lips, eyelashes, nails and let’s not forget the occasional worm in the cheek.

Of course do not skip the corpse bride wig, unless you definitely have the hair to do naturally.
